Allow me to give a little back story on this piece.

I decided to take this back to the drawing board. At first, I planned to make a challenge with this piece. I wanted to see if I could finish it in 1-2 days. This would allow me to post new paintings more frequently in order to appease the social media algorithm Gods. After two days, I called it finished and posted it. After looking at it some more, I realized that I wished I had spent more time on it.

This was an important lesson for me. I felt ashamed of my work. After that, I realized that I'd rather allow each painting to take the full time it needs than to just rush it out for social media. I don't care if I lose money or if the algorithm Gods decide to cast me into the abyss. I'm done sacrificing my artistic integrity for the tech elites.

A painting may truly never be finished. But you should never sacrifice its quality to get a post. Never rush art.

Life events and a new painting. ✨

This past month was quite busy while spending time with family and friends, celebrating our wedding, moving to a new place, and finishing the latest painting “The Cathedral of Aegina”.

The painting of it started outdoors, right in the courtyard of the church. It was a new experience, to be out in the town while people were passing by and checking me painting. Although this church is situated in the middle of the Aegina town, it is very peaceful and serene there.

Until next time! 😊🎨

All the best,
Zac

Blooming Pear Tree, Aegina Greece 🌸

I completed a new painting "Blooming Pear Tree, Aegina Greece".

41 x 50.5 x 2 cm, oil on canvas

What a lovely time on the island - spring. So many blooming trees and flowers. This year it was raining a lot, so there were flowers growing that did not even come out last year.

There are a lot of almond trees that bloom beautifully along the road we take to the main town. We had to stop and take some photos and videos of them.

In our garden, there is a pear tree behind the pool that blooms as beautifully as the almond trees. I wanted to capture this bloom and the handcart behind the pear tree.

Have a great month! 🌸😊

All the best,
Zac

New Painting! 🎨 Walking in the Olive Grove with Toby

A few days ago I just finished a new painting I'm calling "Walking in the Olive Grove with Toby".

40 x 30 x 1.5 cm, oil on canvas

Having a dog like Toby has brought so much joy to life. One of my favorite parts of the day is going on early morning walks in the olive grove. He loves to run up and down the rows of trees.

I started this painting outside but wasn't able to get that far before the light changed. I was observing the way bright sunlight landed on Toby's fur. Also, trying to capture the effect of seeing shade between warm sunlight.

Bring some of the country life in Aegina, Greece to your space with prints and more

All the best,

Zac

Exploring Kanakides (Κανακίδης), Aegina

I'm always on the lookout for new places to paint. A big part of my process is to just experience and find new environments. Kanakides is an abandoned village I noticed while driving on a random road on the weekend. You could see it on top of a mountain. It looked like such a special place but a little bit difficult to get to.

The first time I went there, I didn't think there was any kind of road and didn't see one. I went through lot of rocks and bushes and stuff and it wasn't so easy. The second time, however, we found a road which made it a lot easier.

View of the village from the road

I absolutely love this place.

It was quite an experience being there. This is what I love about Greece. There are so many places like this that are so fascinating and historical. I feel at home and connected when I explore things like this. Like I am where I was born to be. I can't tell you the feeling I have when I was at this place for the first time. Photos do not do justice.

I will do a painting of Kanakides as soon as possible but I have some other ones I need to finish first. I need to find a way to paint faster to keep up with all the ideas.
