Thessaloniki-in-Memory

Thessaloniki in Memory, Greece

Date: Jan 22, 2018

Media: Acrylic on cotton canvas

Dimensions: 50 x 40 x 2cm

Note:  A painting based on memories I had visiting Thessaloniki Greece. It was my first trip to Greece after several years. I arrived at my hotel in the evening at about 9 pm. There was an abundance of life out on the streets and people were enjoying themselves. It’s exciting to be back. I’m staying one night before going to Thessaloniki.
How refreshing it was to be close to the sea after arriving in Thessaloniki. We walked along the sea near the White Tower. I remember the formation of the clouds during the sunset and the wild colors in the sky.
It was difficult to return home to San Francisco. I realized I was only there for the job. I started working on this painting as an experiment in externalizing my experience and memories.
